Little Gestures

001

It’s now a over 2 months on from Valentines day the love trinkets are gone, but has our sentiment wavered too? I believe (as almost every girl does) that we should regularly take a little out to show the people we care about the most, just how much we love them. A while back I decided to surprise my hubby with some sweet treats for him to take to work. He loves anything sugary! Armed with some pastry sheets, a heart cookie cutter I went to work. I mixed together some chocolate butter icing and piped it between the baked pastry hearts. Then drizzled over some melted chocolate sprinkled over some hearts and voila. He reported back that they were incredibly tasty 🙂 This was an easy as treat which made my loved one very, very happy!

Pinspiration: White washed coffee table dream – Now Reality

final2

This Saturday we drove over to the North shore to pick up our brand new piece of Glass. The moment I placed it on the table I knew I had exactly what I wanted!  It’s stylish, perfect for our home and the most affordable coffee table! It comes with the satisfaction of creating something for yourself and the pride of how good it looks…really is our coffee table dream!

A love like ours…

Easter Sunday was a special day for my husband and I, in more ways than one. Not only did it have spiritual significance, it was filled with delicious chocolate treats, and it marked our 1 year wedding anniversary. Early on Sunday morning, the sun not yet fully risen we shared a special and unique moment; I once again re affirmed my vows to my amazing man who in turn read out a poem he had written just for me.

With his permission, here it is:

On this day a year ago

God really put on a show

You got all made up and looked oh so sexy

And I put on a suit and tried not to get it messy

You walked down the aisle to 1000 years

And I found it hard to fight back the tears

We said our vows and declared our love

To everyone there and even God above

It has now been a year

And I must declare

That it has been the best year of my life

And I’m absolutely blessed to have YOU as my wife

We drove out to our ceremony site beautiful St Margaret’s garden, spent the day in the shade of the trees reminiscing about our incredible day. It’s only once in a life time you find a love like ours.

524959_10151307676366636_879271827_nDuring the week I took the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather during my lunch break. I got out of the fluorescent lit office with its computer screens and drawn shades, to get some air and enjoy the real New Zealand. The sun beat down hot and bright, the sky was an incredible blue. I decided to stretch out on a grassy patch out along the shore of Manukau Harbour and enjoy every free minute I had. My love of the week are these Summer/Autumn days with their heat, the cool breezes and the skies so clear they make me happy.

The Key

As I head into my late twenties, 21st Birthdays have became less and less frequent. So this Saturday’s 21st was a lovely change from the ordinary. The birthday girl is beautiful and bright-eyed. She has such a positive vibe about her that I could almost describe her as a real ray of sunshine! And although I love present shopping, I tend to have a bit of difficulty not finding gorgeous items that I would love. The trouble is finding something classy and special that would suit the birthday girl. After a bit of shopping around I stumbled open the most beautiful key Pendant at The Texan Art School store. It was delicate and feminine and I fell in love with it!

In South Africa it is old and sometimes continued tradition to give a key on the 21st Birthday… I have never really understood why… But as I wrapped the key and wrote in her card I realised that even though it might be an old irrelevant tradition, the symbolism still lives on. We may not need a 21st key to be considered an adult, but a key symbolises more than adulthood. It symbolises the ability to choose ones own destiny – the maturity to make the choices you need to to live the life you want. A key unlocks the doors to your dreams.

My mother is definitely one smart woman! When we were little energetic scamps she used to take us to the library and let us loose in the kids section; to run around, play with toys and maybe even look at the cool pictures in the kiddies books on display. Not only did it give her a time to relax and read, but also cultivated in me a love of the library.

I don’t get there often but this week I took a walk to the library to pick up a health mag and an audio book. (I’ll let you in on a secret of mine; I might not always find time to read, as there is always stuff to do but I can definitely listen to a good book throughout my day and still get through my list of things to do!) When the week gets busy and yet I still get to enjoy an absorbing tale for free, that’s when I really appreciate the local Library – so call me old-fashioned, but it’s definitely my love for the week!

One Love

Life passes quickly by and often in the rush we miss the moments of the things in our lives that bring us real joy.

This week Jessie was my moment of joy. Jessie technically belongs to our neighbour, but I like to think her heart belongs to us. She is timid in nature but once you win her trust she is always near hoping for a good cuddle and pat. Her purrs are loud and gratifying and her fur is the softest I’ve touched. She may not live in our home but she is definitely part of our family.

The Beginning…

I’ve always loved to write; To describe things in such detail that the colours and the story comes to life. I have also always loved to create; To put colours together to make spaces and pieces that give my home a peacefulness but also the joy of life. And now due to my ever supportive husband’s constant encouragement this Blog is born. I hope you enjoy my little projects; the things I love and the adventures we have.
